30  Sun  9:30 AM  Santa Cruz Mts Hidden Roads Tour  billmeade@charter.net  Enjoying the cool and winding roads among the Santa Cruz Redwoods - WHAT: The Hidden Roads tour is a 55 mile loop through the Santa Cruz mountains. The tour should require about 2hr 30 min of touring, with an hour break for lunch midway. There are no freeways on the route but there are several sections that are rather narrow and will require extra careful driving. The route has been designed to minimize stops and delays and maximize relaxed touring time. We will stop (for about an hour) for lunch (and optional wine tasting) at MJA Vineyards on Summit Rd. There are several steep climbs on the route, so make sure your cooling system is working correctly! - WHEN: Gather on Sunday, July 30, in the Scotts Valley Market parking lot (shared by Starbucks, Carl’s Jr., and Los Gallos Taqueria) by 9:30 am, driver’s meeting at 9:45 am, depart by 10:00 am. The Scotts Valley Market location is, 14 Victor Square, Scotts Valley, CA 95066 (at Scotts Valley Dr & Granite Creek Rd) - WHERE: Our Tour will take us by Redwood Glen, The Mystery Spot, an abandoned MGB, and stop for lunch at MJA Vineyards. After lunch, we’ll drive along Summit Rd to Zayante Rd. and return back to Scotts Valley. Relax for wine and a picnic lunch at MJA Vineyards on Summit Road. - LUNCH & COST: We will stop for wine tasting (about $10) and your picnic lunch at MJA Vineyards on Summit Road. Please pack a picnic lunch, or take advantage of the Scott’s Valley Market Deli and have a sandwich prepared for you! There will be no food available at MJA (only wine). You may want to bring a cooler with soft beverages for your picnic if you choose not to partake in MJA’s wine offerings. We should be back in Scotts Valley around 1:30 PM, depending on when we leave the lunch stop. Conclusion location: Habanero’s Bar and Grill, 95 Mount Hermon Road, Scott’s Valley, CA 95066. If you would like, you can stop to swap stories about the joys of British Classic Car motoring in the Santa Cruz mountains. Route notes will be provided at the start of the event in case anyone gets separated from the group.
